Saffron has won the ‘Regional Housing Association or Landlord of the Year’ at the East of England Energy Efficiency Awards 2024. We have also received special commendation in the ‘Regional Vulnerable Customer Support Organisation of the Year’ category.
This award recognises the work of the Sustainability Team and those who are involved in Damp & Mould, including Josh Spilling, Project Surveyor, Richard Egle, Sustainability Project Lead, Terry Waterson, Electrical Manager, Colin Arterton, Responsive Maintenance Manager, Paul Wilson, Planned Improvements Manager, Maria Deluca, Tenant Liaison Officer, and Jason MacCormick, Director of Asset, Sustainability & Decarbonisation, in making sure our homes are warm, comfortable and affordable to run.
Richard Egle, Sustainability Project Lead, says: "It was good to receive the recognition and awards on the night, but these awards are testament to all the departments and people involved in sustainability at Saffron, and who have contact with tenants."
Paul Wilson, Planned Improvements Manager, says: "It was an amazing achievement for Saffron to win the Regional Housing Association or Landlord of the year category in the East of England Energy Efficiency Awards.
"Winning the award highlights the hard work and dedication that everyone involved within our decarbonisation projects has put in to successfully deliver wave 1 of the project, and continues to do so to deliver wave 2, and any future funding streams going forwards."
We have so far installed 133 Air Source Heat Pumps, new windows and doors on 80 addresses, 156 ventilation strategies, and 156 insulation upgrades following tech surveys.
Colin Arterton, Responsive Maintenance Manager, and Terry Waterson, Electrical Manager, have also taken a proactive approach to dealing with Damp & Mould (D&M) issues.
The Electrical team has been taking detailed notes in the Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICR), carried out on each property once every 5 years, alongside photographs, which record any D&M observed, existing ventilation units or areas where these could be installed in the future, and recommendations on ventilation made by independent electrical engineers.
Colin and Terry said: “We recognise that there are instances where we must react quickly to any new reports of damp and mould within our tenants’ homes. These reports are made by colleagues within Saffron or contractors visiting our tenants’ homes. We do not rely solely on waiting for tenants to report their concerns.”
