We are delighted to have received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the ‘Housing Association of the year’ category at this year’s Energy Efficiency Awards. It’s after being nominated by BroadlandDistrictCouncil for our decarbonisation work*.
Staff from Saffron attended the event on 9th March, and although we didn’t win, being recognised by coming away with the ‘Highly Commended’ Award, which is second place, is a fantastic achievement.

* The decarbonisation work started last year when the Government awarded £1.9m to South Norfolk and Broadland District Council to upgrade social housing provided by us. The money has been spent on improving the standard of 100 of our lowest energy rated properties between April 2022 to March 2023, making them more energy efficient and cheaper to heat.
We are due to hear by the end of April 2023 whether we have been successful in our bid for a second wave of funding as part of Independent East, to continue the decarbonisation programme. Independent East is an informal alliance of like-minded community focused Housing Associations in East Anglia, including Saffron Housing, Broadland Housing Association, Freebridge Community Housing, Havebury Housing Partnership and Orwell Housing.
