Independent Community Living

Independent Community Living

Independent Community Living means having your own apartment or bungalow in a block, or on a small scheme, where most of the residents are 60 years or older who need support. All schemes provide independent, self-contained homes with their own front doors.

You can view a video made my Norfolk County Council about three different housing options to consider as you get older, but want to keep your independence below:

Our Independent Community Living schemes range in size and include one and two bedroom apartments and bungalows, with separate lounge, kitchen and bathroom/wet room. Properties are designed to be pleasant, close to amenities such as shops and make life a little easier.

Commonly found at our Independent Community Living Schemes:-

  • Wellbeing Co-ordinator on site each day Monday to Friday
  • Emergency Alarm System, which is operated 24/7
  • Communication system between tenants and wellbeing co-ordinators
  • Pendant Alarm System available
  • Communal Laundry facilities
  • Communal Gardens
  • Communal Lounges and kitchen
  • Most bathrooms/wetrooms are fitted with shower, shower seat, handrails, special non slip flooring
  • Raised plug sockets
  • Fully Equipped kitchen with non-slip flooring
  • Guest room available on some schemes
