Independent Community Living means having your own apartment or bungalow in a block, or on a small scheme, where most of the residents are 60 years or older who need support. All schemes provide independent, self-contained homes with their own front doors.
You can view a video made my Norfolk County Council about three different housing options to consider as you get older, but want to keep your independence below:
Our Independent Community Living schemes range in size and include one and two bedroom apartments and bungalows, with separate lounge, kitchen and bathroom/wet room. Properties are designed to be pleasant, close to amenities such as shops and make life a little easier.

Schemes are covered by Wellbeing Co-ordinators (non-resident) who manage the development and help arrange any services residents need. Wellbeing Co-ordinators are on scheme at set regular times Monday – Friday. They are there to assist you with all aspects of your wellbeing and your home, from queries regarding rent, and repairs to emotional support.
All tenants also have access to our Tenant Wellbeing Service, more detail on this service can be found here.
Saffron Housing Trust has Independent Community Living schemes throughout South Norfolk. To apply go to Home Options.
